Do you feel overwhelmed by the anger, grief, confusion, or loneliness that often comes after the end of a relationship?
Has your sense of self been lost in the midst of a divorce or breakup?
Are you having trouble trusting yourself or others again despite a deep desire to move forward?
Divorce or the end of a significant relationship can feel like a whirlwind of emotions—grief, anger, confusion, and even relief. As you navigate the challenges of co-parenting, redefine your identity, and adapt to financial and legal shifts, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed or even lost. Concerns about your children's well-being, lingering self-doubt, and the loneliness that comes with major life changes can intensify the stress of this transition.
Women navigating the aftermath of a breakup face a range of unique challenges that can be both emotional and practical. They often experience a deep sense of loss, not only of companionship but also of identity, as they transition from being part of a couple to navigating life independently.
Concerns about financial stability, the well-being of children, and how to rebuild a fulfilling future can feel overwhelming. Additionally, societal pressures to "move on" quickly or start fresh can intensify feelings of isolation, making it difficult to process grief and redefine personal goals.
For many women, there’s a tension between their personal aspirations and the roles they’ve played in relationships, leading to uncertainty about the future. The fear of loneliness, combined with the challenge of trusting themselves in new relationships, can be daunting.
Navigating these transitions requires time, space, and emotional support. Divorce counseling or breakup therapy can help you to to rebuild confidence, establish healthier boundaries, and embrace the opportunity for self-discovery and growth.

Your Questions, Answered
I have supportive friends—how is therapy different?
Friendship is an essential source of comfort during life’s hardest moment—but therapy offers something different. In this safe, judgment-free space, you’re free to say the hard things, untangle your emotions, and explore your thoughts without worrying about being “too much” or needing to filter yourself. Unlike loved ones, a divorce counselor or breakup therapist provides supportive, impartial observations that help you spot patterns and deepen your understanding of yourself, which can foster much-needed clarity to move forward.
Shouldn’t I just wait it out and let time heal?
Time can ease pain, but it doesn’t always heal the deeper wounds that keep us stuck. Counseling offers the space to process what happened in a divorce or separation, learn from it, and rewrite your next chapter with intentionality.
Is private pay therapy really worth the cost and time?
Most definitely. Major life changes like divorce or romantic breakups can be deeply painful and disruptive, even if they don’t meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis. Unfortunately, insurance only covers counseling for certain diagnoses—oftentimes overlooking the emotional weight of life experiences like a divorce or separation.
Private pay therapy allows us to focus fully on you—your story, your healing, your goals—without the limitations of insurance requirements. It’s a powerful investment in your well-being and growth. While I don’t accept insurance, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
